Attended a wedding here. Pretty nice venue with lots of space and parking. Waiting staff were on point.

Now where do I start! Bear with me as it's going to be a long one! We stayed here for four nights on a coach trip! On arrival we thought how grand it looked but once inside we were reminded it was only a 3 star hotel! Why they don't come into the coach and give us our keys I don't know it would be much better than us all queuing and obstructing the entrance waiting for our names to be called out! A welcome complimentary cuppa was much appreciated! The rooms were adequate all though if they are supposed to accommodate 3 I would expect 3 of everything, especially chairs! There were no case stands either. We went for a walk round whilst waiting for our cases - there was a pleasant outside area at both the front and back. The meals were very good but again why they don't give out the menus for the evening meals at breakfast surprises me. The breakfast was buffet style and plenty of choice and when I asked for breakfast each morning it was no trouble. There was a choice if three dishes for all three courses for dinner. Again it would be better if you put your name at the top of your menu choice sheet because several people had forgotten what they ordered so we're eating other's meal so they had to change! There is a bar but no lounge but there is a lovely new glazed area on the first floor that has space that would lend itself to having comfy seats there to relax and admire the views. We stayed over the weekend and there was a wedding on Saturday and Sunday as well as a golfing party so they were really busy and the waiting staff coped very well and were all friendly, chatty and obliging especially John, a young Romanian gentleman who was particularly pleasant and deserves staff member of the month award. One thing that really astonished us was that there was no butter for two days - a hotel with no butter!!! Instead we had satchels of disgusting water marg! On returning from our last day's excursion we came back to our rooms to find they hadn't been serviced so I phoned down to reception to report it so she said that she would inform housekeeping. Two hours nothing! So I went down to the reception to see what was happening - I was greeted with a very patronising receptionist who said that housekeeping are dealing with it but I said there is no evidence of a trolley or any staff about - she just replied that it will be done. It was then 6.30 and dinner was at 7 and we hadn't been able to have a cup of tea as these hadn't been replenished either. I asked to speak to the manager. One came and he said that it was the first he had heard of it - the receptionist blushed! I'll tolerate ding patronised but not being lied to! He said that they had been very busy and he is trying to look after all his guests to which I suggested he wasn't looking after us! I asked if there was any chance of having a complimentary drink with our meal tonight - we all had one - all 48 passengers on the coach! By the time I'd walked back to our room there was a young lady with the house keeping trolley - I asked her when was she told about the rooms not being done she replied two minutes ago!!!! Bless her she then rushed about to do the 6 rooms that needed doing! When we left we wanted to leave a tip and the manager said that he'd forgotten to put a basket out and as we were nearly the last ones on the coach it doesn't seem anyone had bothered to leave a tip - I hope he did t just put it in his pocket - I wished I'd given it straight to John! Receptionists are usually the first contact in a hotel and I, as someone else said on a previous review, think that they really need more training in customer care! Most people using their hotel are on their holidays and don't want it spoilt by attitude if staff! This hotel has got so much potential too! Perhaps the management will take on board some of the comments and things will improve!

Nice venue for a wedding. Accommodation for families not great unless you get one of the very limited family rooms. Place has a lack of lifts.
